Turkey gets ready to fill car-free streets with joy and creativity in more than 17 cities
Open Streets Day in Turkey will bring people together with interactive activities and events on streets free from cars connecting with the European Mobilityweek and the World Car-Free Day campaign. Thanks to the work of the national coordinator Envercevko Association, local residents will be able to have fun, freely and fearlessly in urban spaces that are usually occupied by cars.
What types of activities are taking place in Turkey? How about bike tours, open-air cinemas, street dances, concerts, photography exhibitions and yoga workshops.
Bike tours will be organized simultaneously in many cities in order to promote and advocate for the use of bicycles and to emphasise the presence of bicycles in city traffic. Cycling tours aim to create a fun, activity-filled experience for participants, while at the same time giving a message to local authorities and show the increasing demand for cycling paths in the city.
The Open Streets Day in Turkey is being coordinated by ISCA member, Envercevko Association and the participation in the events is completely free and open to everyone. It is easy to organise your event by using the materials on the website or to include an existing one on the official website. You can see the activities organised in your city, and submit your own, via this link.
Please contact the local coordinator Asli Kaya (aslikaya86@gmail.com) in Turkey for more information.
Open Streets Day is supported by the Erasmus+ Programme as an official #BeActive European Week of Sport event.
