Come to the party on World Car Free Day between 10am and 3pm on First Avenue. It’s promising to be a fun day bursting with entertainment and full of inspiration to consider new travel habits. The free community event organised by Tauranga City Council has various family-friendly activities lined up: o Ice skating o Bike, skate, scooter track o Displays and check out how to use the bike rack on the bus o Giant games o Face painting o Treasure hunt o Urban chill out zone o Sausage sizzle o DJ from The Hits radio station o TravelSafe’s Ruben & Ruby the Bear o Dan The Puppet Man Getting to this event is the perfect opportunity to leave the car at home for a change and try other ways of transport. Grab your bike, take a stroll or give the bus a go. Bayhopper travel will be free for the day and people will get the chance to learn how to load a bike onto the front of the bus with a bus parked at the First Avenue community event. Tauranga is celebrating World Car Free Day together with more than 46 countries and 2,000 cities around the world. Martin Parkes, Tauranga City Council Manager Transportation, says: “We need to focus on moving more people more efficiently.
